Oriire Abduction: Victims’ Release Reflects Makinde’s Resolve, Says Oyo Lands Commissioner

Oyo State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Akin-Funmilayo Williams, has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde on the successful release of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, describing their freedom as a victory for the state.
The victims, who were abducted during an attack on schools in Ahoro-Esinle community, regained their freedom on Friday.
In a statement this evening, Akin-Funmilayo commended Governor Makinde for his steadfast leadership and resilience throughout the period of the victims’ captivity, saying the governor remained committed to ensuring their safe return.
”The release of the abducted pupils and teachers is a source of joy to every well-meaning resident of Oyo State. I congratulate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his unwavering commitment and tireless efforts towards achieving this outcome,” he said.
The commissioner also applauded security agencies and all those who contributed to the successful release of the victims, describing the development as evidence of what can be achieved through coordinated security efforts.
He noted that the safe return of the victims would rekindle hope among residents and further strengthen public confidence in the government’s determination to combat insecurity.
According to him, the release should serve as renewed motivation for governments at all levels to intensify efforts toward safeguarding schools and protecting vulnerable communities from criminal elements.
Akin-Funmilayo urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with useful information capable of preventing crime and enhancing public safety.
He then said the successful release of the victims should inspire greater collaboration between government, security agencies and local communities, stressing that collective action remains essential to tackling insecurity and preserving lasting peace in Oyo State.
