Lagelu Chairman, Hon. Kamorudeen Convenes Economic and Security Dialogue— Outcomes to Inform Policy Decisions

In a groundbreaking event, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen on Wednesday convened an Economic and Security Stakeholders Dialogue at the council secretariat in Iyana-Offa.

The program which has been described by many as a first of its kind in the long history of the local government- focused on key issue areas such as security, public safety, social development, and economic growth. Reflecting a broader community engagement- the dialogue brought together a diverse group of attendees, including security experts, business owners and economic experts, security agencies’ heads, traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, administrative staffs and political heads of the local government, and other eminent members of the society.

In his presentation, the council chairman, Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru made known of an action plan which his administration intends to move the local government forward with. The action plan made known of bothers on key issue areas that included : Adequate Security; Establishment of a Local Security Network; Community Policing Initiatives; Public Awareness Campaigns: Public Safety; Infrastructure Improvements and Mandated Surveillance (CCTV) Camera in Business and Economic Areas; Emergency Response Systems; Disaster Preparedness; Health and Safety Regulations: Economic Growth; Support for local Businesses and Startups; Infrastructure Development; Skills Development and Training; Timely Payment of Collectible Revenues by local government- among others.

Going further in his statement, the chairman revealed to participants that the essence of the dialogue was to ensure that the Lagelu local government not only addresses immediate concerns but also lays the foundation for sustainable development by enhancing local security, ensuring public safety, advancing social development, and fostering economic growth.

A significant highlight of the event was the introduction of a local security network. The initiative, under an operational scheme termed “Lagelu Secure” will work closely with established State and Federal security agencies with the aim to enhance the local security framework and ensure better safety measures for residents and businesses within the local government area.

The program marked a notable step towards integrating economic and security strategies, underscoring Lagelu’s commitment to improving both public safety and economic growth.
