The Member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON, has declared that the opposition has lost its grip on Oyo State, saying the growing movement towards the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) is a clear indication of changing political dynamics in the state.
Oyekunle made the declaration in an interview with journalists at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement concert held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Monday.
The event, which attracted a massive crowd of supporters reportedly numbering over 50,000, also witnessed the defection of a large number of members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the Boye Nation and JAF Movement, to the APM.
Speaking on the development, the federal lawmaker applauded the Boye Nation and JAF Movement for their mobilisation and for providing an avenue through which members of the opposition could join the APM.
He described the massive turnout at the event and the movement of APC supporters into the APM as a reflection of the growing acceptance of the party among the people of Oyo State.
According to him, the development has shown that “Oyo State is ready for APM, and Nigerians are ready for APM.”
The federal lawmaker said the large gathering at Adamasingba was more than just a musical concert, describing it as a demonstration of the growing political strength and grassroots support for the APM.
He further stated that the development was now a clear indication that the opposition had lost its grip on Oyo State.
He commended Boye Nation and the JAF Movement for the initiative, noting that the massive youth participation and political realignment witnessed at the event would have significant implications for the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Boye Nation/JAF Movement concert, themed “Young, United and Unstoppable,” featured performances by popular artistes, including Taye Currency, Tiri Leather, Qdot and others, while also serving as a major gathering for APM supporters and political stakeholders.
