Lagelu Council Boss, Hon. Kamorudeen, Mourns Passing of Acting Chairman, Lagelu Traditional Council, Oloye Lekan Alabi

The Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, has deeply mourned the passing of Oloye Lekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland and Acting Chairman of the Lagelu Traditional Council.

Oloye Alabi, a veteran journalist, author, public relations consultant, and respected senior chief in the Olubadan-in-Council, reportedly passed away at the age of 76. His death has been widely mourned across Oyo State, with tributes highlighting his immense contributions to journalism, public service, and the preservation of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.

In his condolence message, Hon. Kamorudeen described the late Abese as a towering figure whose life epitomised dedication, professionalism, and service to humanity. He noted that Oloye Alabi’s wisdom and leadership as Acting Chairman of the Lagelu Traditional Council provided immense value to the traditional institution and the broader community.

“On behalf of the good people of Lagelu Local Government, the Executive and Legislative Arms, and indeed the entire traditional council, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Oloye Lekan Alabi, the Olubadan-in-Council, and the entire Ibadanland. His passing is a huge loss not just to Lagelu but to Oyo State and the nation at large,” Hon. Kamorudeen said.

The Lagelu Council Chairman prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and urged the family to take solace in the legacy of excellence and integrity that Oloye Alabi left behind. He also called on residents to emulate the late chief’s commitment to public service and cultural promotion.
