Politics Recalibrated: ‘I made mistake not supporting Tinubu earlier’ – Cubana Chief Priest
Popular socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest has admitted that not supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last election was a mistake, announcing a new political approach focused on collaboration with the federal government.
Speaking at a political gathering in Imo State, Chief Priest described the event as the product of weeks of planning and a symbol of growing unity behind the current administration.
He explained that years of political opposition had yielded little success, prompting the change in strategy.
“We have decided to partner with the government at the center. We are not ready to fight. We tried fighting and it didn’t work for us,” he said.
Chief Priest also praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for maintaining a strong relationship with the federal government, which he said has helped bring development to Imo State. He further commended Seyi Tinubu as a unifying figure bridging ethnic and regional divides.
Reflecting on his previous stance, Chief Priest acknowledged his earlier opposition to Tinubu as a political miscalculation:
“Politics is a game…we don’t want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again,” he stated.
He added that the growing support for the president could evolve into one of the largest political movements in Nigeria, promising stronger mobilisation ahead of future elections.
Chief Priest concluded by offering prayers for Tinubu’s success in office and called on Nigerians to embrace unity, cooperation, and partnership as the nation moves forward
