Oyo ALGON Commiserates With Ibadan Sons and Daughters On Oba Olalekan Mahood Balogun’s Demise
The Association of Local government of Nigeria, Oyo State, have commiserated with with the immediate family of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Governor Seyi Makinde and Ibadanland on the demise of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun who joined his ancestors on Friday at the age of 81 years.
In a statement signed by the Association chairman, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, who also doubles as the executive chairman of Egbeda local government described the late Olubadan as an exemplary leader who did not allow old age to hamper his passion for the development of Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole.
Sanda on behalf of Oyo ALGON described the death of Lekan Balogun as the exit of a great and true monarch of the people, stated that the late monarch’s contributions to the promotion of Yoruba cultural heritage and peaceful co-existence among different groups in Ibadan land and the country in a short time cannot be overstated.
Sanda said Ballgun will be remembered for his indelible marks and service as a custodian of the people’s cultural heritage and traditions, especially at a time when many are abandoning their cultural heritage for foreign culture.
The statement reads “We received the news of Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun the Olubadan of Ibadanland with shock. Oba Olalekan was a man of wisdom who in his short reign as Olubadan out into use his exposure in bringing developments to the land. He was an inspiring and emulative father per excellence. He would be sorely missed for the fatherly roles he played as a royal father.
“On behalf of the 33 local government chairmen, vice and chairperson’s in oyo state, we commiserate with the royal family as well Ibadan sons and daughters and the state Government on this great loss. May God grant eternal rest to the departed royal father and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss,” ALGON said.
