Oyekunle’s FA 5-Aside Tournament Ignites Youth Passion in Ibadan North as Golden FC Clinch Title
The just-concluded Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON) FA 5-Aside Football Competition has once again reinforced the lawmaker’s commitment to youth development and grassroots sports in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.



Fully sponsored by Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, the federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North, and hosted by the Yemetu Youth Forum, the tournament drew an impressive turnout of football enthusiasts, youths, and community supporters. The competition reached its climax yesterday with a thrilling final attended by the lawmaker himself alongside notable political figures and stakeholders.


The final match saw Golden FC lock horns with Inuolaji FC in a keenly contested encounter that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. After an intense showdown, Golden FC emerged champions, defeating Inuolaji FC via a penalty shootout. Inuolaji FC settled for second place, while Emirate FC secured the third position.





Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Mr. Ibrahim Sarumo (popularly known as Umbro) expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Oyekunle for his unwavering support. He commended the lawmaker’s proactive leadership and accessibility, noting that he embraced the initiative wholeheartedly and provided all necessary resources to ensure the tournament’s success.


Addressing the participants and attendees, Hon. Oyekunle lauded the peaceful and rancour-free organization of the competition, describing it as a true reflection of sportsmanship and unity among the youths. He reiterated that supporting young people remains one of his core priorities, emphasizing the need to engage them in meaningful and productive activities.




The lawmaker further assured that the tournament would continue to grow annually, pledging sustained support to expand its reach and impact. Cash prizes and medals were presented to the winners, runners-up, and third-place team as part of efforts to reward excellence and encourage participation.
Dignitaries present at the event included party chieftain Hon. Josiah Oladapo, Hon. Afolabi, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Akinwale Bodija, and Mr. Ayodamope Afolabi, among others.

The successful hosting of the competition has been widely hailed as a significant step toward fostering unity, discovering football talents, and promoting youth engagement across Ibadan North.
