The Media and Publicity Secretary of the Bimbo Adekanmbi Support for Excellence (BASE) Movement, Akindele Alabi, has expressed confidence that the organisation will grow into one of Oyo State’s most significant youth-led civic and political movements, driven by a vision of excellence, integrity, inclusive governance, youth empowerment and sustainable development.
Speaking while responding to questions following the official launch of the movement, Alabi described BASE as a platform designed to encourage young people to actively participate in shaping the future of Oyo State while supporting the governorship aspiration of Bimbo Adekanmbi, whom he said possesses the competence and experience needed to sustain the state’s development.
According to him, the movement is built on the conviction that the future belongs to those willing to prepare and work towards it.
“Our core message is simple: The future belongs to those who are prepared to build it. Together, we move the state forward,” he said.
Alabi noted that the campaign slogan, #IAm4BASE, represents more than political support for Adekanmbi, describing it as a rallying point for young people seeking continuity in good governance, progressive policies and greater citizen participation.
He explained that although BASE currently operates as a decentralised volunteer movement, plans are underway to establish a formal organisational structure with coordinators at the state, local government, ward and polling-unit levels across Oyo State’s 33 local government areas.
Alabi disclosed that the movement had recorded remarkable interest from young people shortly after its launch, revealing that more than 2,000 youths indicated their willingness to become members within the first 48 hours.
According to him, the growing interest reflects the desire of many young people to become active partners in governance, community development, innovation and public service through the BASE platform.
He further announced that registration for interested individuals would officially commence on Saturday, August 1, urging residents of the state to monitor the movement’s communication channels for further updates.
“We encourage everyone interested in joining the movement to stay tuned for updates as registration opens on August 1,” Alabi added.
