OPINION: Makinde & Ibadan Obas, Ajimobi’s Tale~ Elder Olanrewaju Oderajo

I was stopped by a journalist and he asked for my views about the proposed elevation of Ibadan High Chiefs to obaship positions.

“I am in support of Governor Seyi Makinde. Yes, Senator Ajimobi as the governor ventured into it but I wrote then that it is a nice idea if not wrongly implemented.
The timing of that of Senator Ajimobi was wrong.

Sarumi

The idea cropped up from Senator Ajimobi. He publicly told us during the Asa day that he is going to dash out beaded crowns to the chiefs and that do mi do, mi re do will be kept with the Commissioner for Information for easy collection whenever the man in question is ready to pick it

The above tends to show that the idea was targeted to curtail the political light of DO MI DO, MI RE DO.
That environment is no more. This idea is now from the Olubadan in control. Presented to the House of Assembly. From there to the executive for assent. What does that connote? DUE PROCESS.

Monumental Legacy

The journalist further told me that one of the chiefs told him that when he started the race, he didn’t have it in mind to wear two beaded crowns. He asked me for my opinion on it

Biiro D Solution

What is constant in life is change. Help me ask him this question. When Papa Adedibu brought Chief Kolapo Olawuyi Ishola to him for financial assistance, did he know that he will be dragged out to become Senator and Governor in the future?

The journalist didn’t ask further questions but I told him:

Akinsete

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the governor of Osun State asked for Ooni Olubuse Sijuwade”s permission before the crowing of Baale Modakeke and some Baales under Ife as Obas. Since Olubadan Mahood Lekan Balogun Okumade 1 is not against the project, Governor Seyi Makinde is in order.

Back to Olagunsoye Oyinlola as governor, he publicly stated that he will dethrone any oba so crowned thinking he is on the same pedestal as the stool of Ooni

No oba in Ibadanland can equate himself to Olubadan. As regards domain, already each of the High Chiefs is the head of Traditional Council in each of the 11 local councils in Ibadan land

To give 7/7/2023 a traditional touch, OJUBO OSE MEJI needs to be added to the plan.

Thank you for your time.
