Education: Ibadan North East LGA Organizes Anti-Cultism Programme for Students

The Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Honourable Ibrahim Akintayo, has demonstrated his commitment to the development of education and the well-being of students in the area by organizing an anti-cultism sensitization programme for secondary school students across the Local Government Area.

As part of the event, Honourable Akintayo distributed free exercise books to the students, showcasing his dedication to supporting the educational needs of the youths.

The programme, which took place at the premises of Ibadan North East Local Government, featured prominent attendance from political functionaries and career officers of the Council. In a lecture titled “The Dangers of Cultism to Society,” the Guest Lecturer, Dr. Olufemi Michael of the University of Ibadan, highlighted the risks associated with cultism and urged the students to shun such activities for a brighter future.

 

The Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Omolara Aremu, commended Honourable Akintayo’s efforts in reforming the education sector, noting that it aligns with the commitment of His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde to the development of education.

In his address to the students, Honourable Akintayo emphasized the importance of good company and commitment to studies and also advised the students to avoid bad and maintain discipline.

A notable aspect of the programme was the distribution of exercise books to the students, which was met with enthusiasm and gratitude. The Chairman further promised to support students who did well in their studies with their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees, a gesture that was warmly received.

The Local Inspector of Education, Ibadan North East Local Government, Mrs. Mopelola Jimoh, praised Honourable Akintayo’s gestures and special interventions, describing them as a remarkable act.
