Makinde’s GSM Advocates Hold Strategic Media Training, Charge Members on Effective Political Engagement in Ibadan

GSM Advocates, the media team of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, yesterday organized a capacity building training for its members in Ibadan, Oyo State. This is according to a statement issued by Bashorun Saintabey, Deputy Director of GSM Advocates. The training, themed “Navigating Oyo State Politics: Strategies for Effective Media Engagement”, was attended by a delegation of government officials led by Oyo Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo.

The one-day training, held at the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) Secretariat Ibadan, featured prominent facilitators including Dr. Moronkola Thomas, DG OYMSED, and Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, CPS to Gov Makinde, who shared valuable insights on effective media engagement strategies.

Dr. Moronkola Thomas, DG OYMSED, and Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, CPS to Gov Makinde, shared valuable insights on effective media engagement strategies. Dr. Moronkola commended GSM Advocates for their efforts, stating that they have done credibly well and it’s time to double their effort, emphasizing the importance of strategic media engagement in achieving governance goals. Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju provided key insights into media engagement, highlighting best practices and common pitfalls to avoid, stressing the need for government officials to be proactive in managing their media presence and engaging with the public effectively.

Other notable facilitators and attendees included Rev’d Idowu Ogedengbe, E.A to Gov on Administration, Hon. Akinwole Akinwole (Chairman LGSC), Hon. Akintunde Olajide (AKT), Hon Sikiru Sanda, ALGON chairman, Hon Oluwaseun Olufade, Hon. Deji Ola, S.A to the Governor on Political matters, Dr Oke Legacy, Commissioner at LGSC, and Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, Director General of GSM Advocates.

The training aimed to enhance media engagement strategies for effective politics in Oyo State, with participants describing it as an eye-opener. The event provided a platform for government officials to interact with media experts and learn best practices in navigating the complex world of politics and media.

Speaking at the event, Oyo ALGON Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda emphasized the importance of effective media engagement in governance, stating that it is crucial for the success of government programs and projects. He urged participants to take advantage of the training to improve their media engagement skills. Also, Rev’d Idowu Ogedengbe, Executive Assistant to Governor Makinde on Administration, urged the media team to intensify their efforts in showcasing Governor Seyi Makinde’s achievements more as this will form part of what will ensure the continuation of Omituntun 3.0 in Oyo State.

The training was well-received by participants, who praised the the director of GSM Advocates , Engr Akeem Olatunji for putting together a relevant and timely program. GSM Advocates, the media arm of Gov Seyi Makinde, continues to promote excellence in governance through capacity building initiatives.

 

Responding to the one-day media event, Ambassador Muideen Adeyemi from Oyo town thanked the government officials led by Hon. Ademola Ojo, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Matters, for the insightful knowledge shared with GSM Advocates. He appreciated the attendees and described the event as “the thing needed at this material time”.

The training demonstrates GSM Advocates’ dedication to strengthening its members, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles and effectively promote good governance in Oyo State.
