2024 LG Poll: Communities, Landlord Associations Endorse Olatunji Ahead Council Election

Ahead of the forthcoming 2024 Local Government Election in Oyo state, communities, landlord associations and other political interest groups have endorsed the chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole, Akeem Olatunji as their preferred choice.

The endorsement took place last weekend at a program organized by Ire-Akari General Landlords and Landlady’s Association, as well as Ayetoro comprising over 200 community.

Among others in attendance at the epochal program include Imam Qamardeen Tijani as the Spiritual father of the day, Chief Adenrele Amoo as father of the day, as well as Ire-Akari General Electoral Committee (IGEC) Chairman, Adedeji Ademola.

Monumental Legacy

The Joint Communities President of Aiyetoro comprising over 200 communities, Alhaji Abideen Aderonmu Olaide, described Olatunji as a humane politician worthy of emulation by other younger politicians assuring that the communities would work for Olatunji’s electoral victory come April, 2024.

The General Chairman of Ire Akari General Landlords and Landlady’s Association Alhaji Ismaheel Aremu who commended Olatunji’s approach to politics and humility while delivering his address urged the PDP candidate not to derail from sustaining the personality that has endeared him to many.

While also commending Governor Seyi Makinde for his transformational policies and programs that have brought about rapid development in Ibadanland and other parts of the state, Alhaji Aremu expressed confidence that Olatunji’s administration as the next council chairman would attract more development to Oluyole.

In his remarks, Olatunji, overwhelmed with joy expressed gratitude to the community and religious leaders for their public show of support.

Olatunji also assured that he would domesticate Governor Makinde’s Omititun 2.0 Sustainable Development agenda in Oluyole and ensure even spread of dividends of democracy at the grassroots.

While expressing appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity given him as well as other youths aspiring for leadership roles within the political arena, Olatunji said, “the governor has made himself a staircase through which youths and women aspiring to take up leadership roles to rise to the peak of their political careers.”

The former Publicity Secretary of PDP in Oyo state said Makinde by his achievements so far in politics and governance has made himself a political institution and a nationalist whose records of success would continue to resonate for generations to come.

While speaking with journalists shortly after the program, Olatunji said he is committed to diligently following as a core disciple of what he described as the Makinde’s political institution adding that if elected as the executive chairman come next year, his administration would among other things, key into the state’s Agribusinesses Development agenda as one of the drivers of the local government’s economy.

“I can not thank our leaders, our fathers and mothers enough for this show of love and support, it means the little things we do as politicians are being noticed by these leaders and elders and I can assure you that with God on our side, we would remain committed to the Oluyole project.

“Their endorsement of my candidacy means alot to me as a politician because I know their weight is huge and when thrown behind a candidate, such person can be assured of electoral victory, therefore, we will continue to take our message of sustainable development agenda to every home and household for their support.

“Governor Makinde has completely changed the narrative of local government election in the state, now we have about 18 political parties listed by OYSIEC to participate because of the institutional credibility and people’s confidence in the state’s electoral process under the present government, therefore, we will put in our best to ensure a resounding victory at the poll come next year.” Olatunji said.

Olatunji was accompanied to the program by Ward 3 Chairman, Mr Lukman Aperin, Ward 3 Councilor, Hon Taofeek Azeez Iwo, Ward 4 Councilor, Hon Shina Oyedele, Ward 7 Councillorship Candidate, Hon Ademola Dauda, Hon Adeniji Abel, Hon Wunmi Ayinde, Mrs Ramoni Abisoye and others.
