A group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ibadan Northeast United Forum has berated the party’s local government chairman over his unguarded utterances and attempt to overturn the will of the majority of party stakeholders.
The party Chairman, Alhaji Fatokun Isiaka in a statement said no aspirant has been endorsed.
He added that his office will announce a consensus candidate once consultations are concluded.
Reacting to Isiaka’s statement, Taofiq Akindele has asked the party chairman to step down from his position, adding that he is no longer seen as an unbiased umpire.
“The statement credited to our party Chairman is not only laughable but shameful and condemnable.
“Where was it stated that it’s party chairman that will announce the outcome of the expanded stakeholders meeting we held and was attended by various leaders in our local government?
“His uninformed statement has immediately triggered reactions from within and outside our party.”
Akindele condemned Isiaka’s treacherous position while insisting that he could not superintend over the affairs.
“You and Bayo Lawal can’t foist a failed aspirant on the majority of loyal and committed party members, Samuel Abiodun Ogunjobi remains our consensus candidate. We’ll mobilize against your continued stay in office if you failed to tender your resignation letter within twenty-four hours.”
