The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, has applauded the mass defection of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), describing the development as a reflection of the growing acceptance of the party and confidence in the leadership of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Hon. Sanda stated this at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert, held at Adamasingba, Ibadan, where thousands of APC members formally joined the APM.
The defectors, led by Ajiboye Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, a personal assistant and loyalist to former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, were drawn from various local government areas across Oyo State.
Sanda, who attended the event alongside other leaders, stakeholders and candidates of the APM, said the development further demonstrated the expanding reach and acceptance of the party across the state.
“Today’s gathering is significant because it demonstrates that political participation is increasingly influenced by leadership, performance and the desire for sustainable development.»
“The movement of thousands of APC members into the APM is a clear demonstration of the growing acceptance of our party and the direction of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.»
“We welcome all the new members into the APM and assure them that they are now part of a larger family committed to the progress, unity and development of Oyo State,” Sanda said.»
The Egbeda Local Government Chairman congratulated the new members on their decision to join the APM, assuring them of equal participation and inclusiveness within the party.
He also called on members and stakeholders of the APM to remain united, disciplined and committed to grassroots engagement and service to the people.
Sanda emphasised that the strength of any political organisation lies in its ability to bring people together around shared values and a common vision for development.
The event, themed “Young, United, Unstoppable (YUU),” featured performances by prominent Fuji artistes, including Alhaji Taye Currency, Alhaji Tiri Leather, Babatunmise, Ododo Emi, Ajao Samson Ajeseun Band and Aare Rasaq Ayanfe, among others.
The gathering was attended by senior government officials, APM leaders, serving members of the National Assembly and Oyo State House of Assembly, commissioners, party candidates, political stakeholders and supporters from across the state.
