Oyo Assembly Committee Applauds Akintayo’s Leadership, Staff Welfare at Ibadan North-East LG

The House Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Honours of the Oyo State House of Assembly has commended the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, during an oversight visit to the Local Government Secretariat on Tuesday, 1st September 2026.


The Committee paid the visit as part of its oversight responsibilities and efforts to assess the condition of Local Government facilities and administrative operations, with a view to identifying areas requiring attention and making appropriate recommendations for necessary improvements.

The delegation was led by Hon. Akintunde Olajide (AKT), Member representing Lagelu Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Local Government.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Olajide explained that the purpose of the exercise was to inspect the condition of structures, buildings and the general environment of the Local Government Secretariat and to identify areas that require renovation, rehabilitation and other forms of improvement.
He said the findings from the inspection would assist the Committee in making appropriate recommendations towards ensuring that Local Government facilities are improved and brought up to modern standards where necessary.
While addressing the political functionaries and members of staff, Hon. Akintunde Olajide (AKT) commended the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, for his leadership and commitment to the effective administration of the council.
He commended the Chairman for his commitment to staff welfare, effective leadership and the smooth administration of the Local Government, noting his efforts in supporting and motivating the workforce towards greater productivity and effective service delivery.
Hon Akintunde further stated that the present administration in Oyo State, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, is committed to the welfare of staff members and political functionaries in the Local Government system and will continue to put in place necessary measures to ensure that they enjoy conducive and befitting working environments.
According to him, creating a suitable working environment is important to staff productivity and effective service delivery, noting that the welfare of workers remains an important component of good administration.
Hon. Akintunde Olajide also appreciates the career officers of the Local Government for their dedication and commitment to duty while particularly acknowledging the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Omolara Aremu, describing her as a woman of great value and competence.
He commended Mrs. Aremu and other career officers for their contribution to the smooth running of the Local Government administration and their continued commitment to the discharge of their official responsibilities.
The team also engaged the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, and some other top officials of the Local Government on the situation of the Local Government.
The engagement focused on the state of the Local Government facilities, the working environment and other issues affecting the effective administration of the council, with a view to identifying areas requiring attention and making recommendations that would make the Local Government Secretariat more conducive, functional and befitting for staff and members of the public.
The oversight visit also provided an opportunity for the Committee to interact with the council’s political and administrative leadership and obtain relevant information on the operations and current situation of the Local Government.
Other members of the delegation who came for the crucial assignment were the Majority Leader of the House, Honourable Sanjo Adedoyin (Ogbomoso South State Constituency); Chief Whip of the State Assembly, Honourable Gbenga Oyekola (Atiba State Constituency); Honourable Shola Owolabi (Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2); Honourable Bamidele Adeola (Iseyin/Itesiwaju State Constituency); Honourable Rasaq Mabaje (Ido State Constituency); and Honourable Dawood Olalere (Ibadan North-West State Constituency).
Also in attendance was the Political Head, Ibadan East LCDA, Hon. Mrs. Mary Esomior; the Leader of the House, Hon. Abdul Mojeed Igbalajobi; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Olufemi Afolabi; the Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Ibadan East LCDA, Mr. Hakeem Ogunyejo; the Councillors; Supervisory Councillors; Special Assistants; Heads of various Departments in both the Local Government and the LCDA; Deputy Directos; Unit Heads; staff members and other stakeholders in Ibadan North-East Local Government.
The visit underscored the importance of regular oversight, collaboration and engagement between the State House of Assembly and Local Government authorities towards strengthening Local Government administration, improving working conditions and ensuring that council facilities meet the required standards for effective service delivery.
