Olufade Honoured As Youth-Focused Local Government Chairman Of the Year At MAYA Awards 2026
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has been honoured with the Youth-Focused Local Government Chairman of the Year Award at the 11th edition of the MAYA Awards 2026, held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Hon. Olufade, who is the youngest Local Government Chairman in Oyo State, was deemed worthy of the prestigious award by the organisers in recognition of his tremendous contributions to youth development and his impactful approach to governance.
Despite operating an inclusive system of governance that prioritises the welfare and development of all residents, irrespective of age, Hon. Olufade has distinguished himself through deliberate programmes and initiatives targeted at empowering young people.
His administration has made notable interventions in areas including education, vocational skills acquisition, youth empowerment and support for creative talents.
Through these initiatives, the chairman has continued to demonstrate his belief that young people are not merely leaders of tomorrow but active stakeholders in governance and development today.
Hon. Olufade has also emerged as a model for young Nigerians interested in public service and politics, redefining youth participation in governance through his commitment to grassroots development and his achievements across various sectors of the local government.
The MAYA Awards 2026, which marked the 11th edition of the prestigious event, also recognised several business moguls, outstanding public servants, captains of industry and notable personalities who have made significant contributions to the entertainment and other sectors of society.
The award was received on behalf of Hon. Olufade by his Head of Media , Mr. Aderibigbe Yisahu.
Speaking on behalf of the chairman, Yisahu expressed appreciation to the organisers of the MAYA Awards for recognising Hon. Olufade’s efforts and contributions to youth development.
He noted that the award would serve as an additional motivation for the chairman to intensify his commitment to youth empowerment, inclusion and development.
He further reaffirmed Hon. Olufade’s determination to continue implementing policies and programmes that create opportunities for young people while ensuring that every segment of Ibadan North Local Government benefits from his administration’s inclusive governance.
