The youth-oriented movement also hailed the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights, saying the outcome of the election demonstrated their desire for continuity in governance and development.

Speaking on behalf of the movement, its Media Director, Akindele Alabi, said Adeleke’s victory was the culmination of a long and arduous political journey, adding that BASE was delighted that the will of the people ultimately prevailed.

Alabi said the outcome of the Osun governorship election had lessons for neighbouring Oyo State, where, according to him, voters would similarly support continuity by voting for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, in the 2027 election.

He said Adekanmbi would build on the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration and further drive modern development across the state.

“The victory of Governor Adeleke represents the people’s appreciation of the benefits of democracy and the impact of his administration. It is a gesture of gratitude from the electorate who have recognized the efforts of his government,” Alabi said.

He added that the same principle of continuity would play out in Oyo State, noting that residents had previously demonstrated their appreciation for Governor Makinde’s administration through his re-election in 2023.

According to him, Oyo voters would be presented with an opportunity in 2027 to elect Makinde’s successor and sustain the development trajectory of the state.

Alabi stressed that true leadership and good governance should transcend political boundaries, explaining that BASE was established as a youth platform for Gen Z and young adults committed to excellence, integrity, inclusive governance, youth empowerment and sustainable development in Oyo State.

He said the movement remained dedicated to promoting the vision and people-centred agenda of Adekanmbi, while engaging, informing, mobilising and inspiring residents to support leadership based on competence, continuity and service.

The BASE Media Director expressed confidence that Oyo State voters would recognize the impact of the Makinde administration in critical sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare and youth development.

“What happened in Osun State will also happen in Oyo State in February 2027. The people will recognize the impact of good governance and make their choice accordingly,” Alabi said.

He urged young people across Oyo State to remain actively involved in the political process and contribute to building a future anchored on effective leadership, sustainable development and inclusive governance.
