FOSSU, Oyo Government Move to Deepen Partnership for Student Empowerment

The newly inaugurated leadership of the Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU) National Council on Wednesday 22nd July, 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Oyo State, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, as part of efforts to deepen institutional relations and advance student welfare in the state.

The visit, which held at the Ministry’s office in Ibadan, was primarily to facilitate the formal familiarization of the new FOSSU National Council with the Ministry and the Honourable Commissioner.

Speaking during the engagement, Sen. Ahmed A. Mufutau, National President alongside Dist. Sen. Yekini Sodiq, Senate President appreciated Hon. Wasilat Adegoke for her tremendous support to the National Council and for her presence at the union’s Inaugural programme. The Council described her presence and gesture as a clear demonstration of the Ministry’s commitment to youth and student development

 

The leadership further used the platform to seek continued collaboration and support from the Ministry in programs aimed at empowering Oyo State indigenous students. The Council also commended the Commissioner for the visible growth and innovative strides recorded in the Ministry under her watch.

In response, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke welcomed the new FOSSU National Council and assured them of the Ministry’s continued support. She reiterated the Oyo State Government’s commitment to inclusiveness, pledging that indigenous students would be fully integrated into state sports activities and youth development initiatives.

 

The FOSSU National Council reaffirmed its readiness to partner with the Ministry of Youth & Sports to drive programs that will promote talent discovery, leadership development, and the overall well-being of Oyo State students.
