ALGON Oyo Condemns Oriire Kidnap, Mourns Slain Teacher, Assures Residents of Enhanced Security

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State chapter, has strongly condemned the abduction of students and teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state, as well as the gruesome killing of a school teacher, Mr. Oyedokun, by suspected kidnappers.

The association described the incident as barbaric, unfortunate and unacceptable, noting that such acts of criminality pose a serious threat to the peace and safety of communities across the state.
According to a press statement made available to journalists by the Public Relations Officer of ALGON in Oyo State, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, the association expressed deep sympathy to the family of the slain teacher, Mr. Oyedokun, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the painful loss.


ALGON also commiserated with the affected families, the people of Oriire Local Government and the Oyo State Government over the disturbing incident, while assuring residents that all necessary security measures are being intensified to ensure the safe rescue and return of the abducted students and teachers.
The association further stated that security agencies, in collaboration with the state government and local authorities, are working tirelessly to secure the freedom of those still in captivity.

While calling for calm among residents, ALGON urged members of the public to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times, stressing that community support remains vital in combating insecurity.
The statement emphasized the importance of timely information sharing, urging residents to report any suspicious movement or activity to relevant security agencies.
“When people see something, they must say something. Security is a collective responsibility and the cooperation of residents is highly needed at this critical time,” the statement added.
ALGON reaffirmed its confidence in the efforts of the Oyo State Government and security operatives in tackling insecurity across the state, expressing hope that the abducted victims would soon be reunited safely with their families.
