Makinde, KSA Lead PDP/APM Political Realignment Ahead of 2027 Elections

The political landscape of Nigeria took a decisive turn today as His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE, officially declared his intention to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027. The declaration was made at a historic Unity Mega Rally jointly organized by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, at the iconic Mapo Hall, Ibadan.

The rally, which brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and thousands of supporters from across Oyo State and beyond, served as the formal platform to announce the alliance between PDP and APM and to unveil a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Makinde called on opposition leaders and Nigerians at large to unite against what he described as a deliberate effort by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to steer the country toward a one-party state. He stressed that Nigeria can no longer claim to operate a true democracy without a political landscape that guarantees a level playing field for opposition parties, free from interference by the ruling party.

“I call on Nigerians to rise above being political spectators and bystanders. With the collective participation of all Nigerians of eligible voting age, we will record a historic reset come 2027,” Governor Makinde declared.
The highlight of the rally was the formal declaration of Engineer Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, popularly known as KSA, as the APM candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In a statement issued immediately after the Unity Mega Rally and signed by Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, he expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde, PDP and APM leaders, and the people of Oyo State for the confidence reposed in him and the alliance.
“Today, history has been made at the iconic Mapo Hall, Ibadan. Under the leadership of our performing Governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, the PDP, and APM have come together in a historic alliance, and our Governor has boldly declared his intention to contest for the Presidency in 2027.
This moment is not just about political alignment. It is about rescuing Nigeria’s democracy, restoring hope, and giving Nigerians a credible alternative that prioritizes competence, inclusivity, and national unity over division and imposition.
I am humbled and honoured to accept the mandate of the APM to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections. My decision is borne out of a deep conviction that our people deserve representation that is accessible, accountable, and focused on delivering tangible results.
The APM-PDP alliance represents a new direction for Oyo and for Nigeria. It is a coalition built on the principles of internal democracy, transparency, and grassroots engagement. It believes in fielding candidates based on merit, competence, and public acceptance, not on imposition or financial inducement. I align myself fully with these values.
To the good people of Ido and Ibarapa East, I make this pledge: my representation will be anchored on Leadership With Vision, Service, and Integrity. I will prioritize legislation and advocacy that bring federal presence to our communities, improve our infrastructure, expand opportunities for our youth, strengthen our agricultural sector, and ensure that no ward is left behind.
I also acknowledge and commend the developmental strides of Governor Seyi Makinde in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment across Oyo State. The APM-PDP alliance in Oyo State is committed to building on this progress, consolidating the gains, and ensuring that every federal constituency contributes meaningfully to the growth of our state and nation.
As we move toward 2027, I call on all sons and daughters of Ido/Ibarapa East, at home and abroad, to join hands with us. This is not a journey for one man. It is a collective mission to secure a new dawn for our constituency and to support a national movement for a better Nigeria under Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition.
The Unity Mega Rally at Mapo Hall today has shown the strength, unity, and determination of our alliance. The work begins now. A new dawn in Ido/Ibarapa East starts now. A new dawn for Nigeria starts now.”
The leadership of the PDP-APM alliance in Oyo State reiterated its commitment to providing a credible alternative for voters in 2027. The focus will be on early mobilization, unity among stakeholders, and issue-based campaigns that address the real needs of the people at both state and national levels.
With the successful hosting of the Unity Mega Rally, the formal declaration of Governor Makinde’s presidential ambition, and the unveiling of candidates like Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, the alliance has demonstrated its organizational strength and readiness to contest and win across Oyo State and beyond in 2027.
