JUST IN: CAF Suspends Senegal’s Coach
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has suspended Coach of the Teranga Lions of Senegal, Pape Thiaw following Sunday’s chaos at the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Morocco.
Senegal were crowned champions of Africa after seeing off Host Nation, Atlas Lions of Morocco in a frantic and controversial encounter at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat.
Pape Gueye scored 4 minutes into extra time to give Senegal a 1-0 lead after the game had ended goalless in regulation time.
However, in second half stoppage time, Morocco were awarded a penalty which led to chaotic scenes on the pitch as the Senegalese Coach, Pape Thiaw ordered his players to walk out of the pitch.
It took the intervention of Star Forward, Sadio Mane to recall his teammates from the dressing room for the match to continue.
