Coronation: Akin-Funmilayo, Mogbonjubola Lead Oyo Commissioners on Visit to Olubadan-Designate Rashidi Ladoja

A delegation of Oyo State Executive Council members paid a courtesy visit yesterday to His Royal Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, to congratulate him ahead of his coronation slated for 26th September 2025.

Speaking with journalists during the visit, the Honorable Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, described the Olubadan-designate as a “destiny being,” noting that his life’s journey reflects divine providence.

“From Senator, to Executive Governor of Oyo State, and now ascending as His Imperial Majesty, Olubadan of Ibadanland — this is highly historic and rare. We are indeed witnesses to a remarkable chapter in our traditional institution,” Williams said.

The Commissioner further prayed for God’s continued preservation and guidance for the Olubadan-designate, wishing him a long, peaceful, and fruitful reign that would bring progress to Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria.

Other members of the State Executive Council present at the visit included the Honorable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin; Honorable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola; Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Hon. Segun Olayiwola; and Commissioner for Health, Mrs. Ajetumobi.

The visit underscored the pride of Ibadan sons and daughters in their revered traditional institution, whose unique and orderly succession system continues to serve as a model of cultural stability.
