Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, has called on local government staff across the state to remain committed to advancing development at the grassroots level.

Wolekanle gave the charge on Wednesday while receiving members of the Conference of Directors of Education and Social Service in Oyo State, who paid a congratulatory visit to his office in Ibadan.

Commending their efforts, he said, “We appreciate the good work you are doing and encourage you to do even more to enhance educational development at the grassroots. Education remains a key driver of progress in our communities.”

The commission chairman also emphasized the importance of merit-based promotion within the local government system, urging staff to actively participate in promotion examinations. “Promotion will be strictly based on performance. The Commission will not entertain favoritism in the process,” he stated.

Earlier in her remarks, the Chairperson of the Conference, Alhaja Kudirat Najeemdeen, said the visit was to formally congratulate Bashorun Wolekanle on his appointment and to express their readiness to work with his administration.

“We are prepared to collaborate with your leadership to accelerate grassroots development in line with the vision of our amiable Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde,” she said.
