We’ve Secured Cash From CBN To Conduct Poll In Oyo –INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday said the Commission has secured cash from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to conduct elections in Oyo State.

Oyo INEC Residents Electoral Commission (REC) Dr. Adeniran Tella said it was ready to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the State despite the scarcity of cash.

Speaking in Ibadan at the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Tella said INEC has secured the required cash from CBN to ease the movement of electoral materials and logistics to various polling units across the State.

He noted that 2,305,903 voters are expected to perform their civic obligation across Oyo in the 6,390 polling units spread across all 33 local government areas.

Monumental Legacy

Tella noted that 2,305,903 Permanent Voter Cards(PVCs) have been collected while 760,766 PVCs are yet to be collected by registrants.

Tella said, “I have the opportunity to tell you the level of our preparedness. The level of our preparedness has reached an advanced state in all stages. This is also an opportunity for us to again to come out and talk to you.

“Total number of polling units 6,390. Registered voters in Oyo state: 3,276,675.

“CVR update: Total PVCs collected: 2,305,903. Total PVCs uncollected: 760,766.

“As long as you have your PVC, come out to vote during the elections. So, we are trying to put our heads together”.
