Despite being a son of Alhaji (Chief) Yekinni Adeojo, a well-regarded elder statesman in Oyo state, the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, Ibadan chieftaincy holder and former National Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the chairman, Ido Local government of the state, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has always made remarkable footprint for himself both in politics and governance in his domain.

No doubt, Sheriff Adeojo rode into governance as a result of the political antecedent of his father, especially in Oyo State, however, the young Adeojo never relied only on the political successes of his father. There is no gainsaying the fact that he is an epitome of humanity and a campaigner of good governance. He has proven to be a tested and trusted young politician and has never been deterred by the critics. His ability to stick to fairness and justice amidst ccrisesis always top-notch.

Sarumi

Sheriff Adeojo has always proved critics wrong as he surpassed expectations in almost a year as caretaker chairman of Omi-Apata Local Council Development Area in 2020/2021.

As the LCDA chairman, Sheriff returned politics and governance to the grassroots as many politicians and residents in Ido LG agreed and testified that the dividends of democracy got to their footsteps in their various communities. The young Adeojo not only bridged the gap between the people and the government but also ensured that his administration provided for the needs of the people.

Monumental Legacy

Unlike most Local Governments and LCDA chairmen, who will attract revenue for themselves while they conveniently ignore the responsibilities stipulated under the Fourth Schedule, Adeojo, generated revenue for the government and judiciously used it for the development of the Council and, by extension, the state.

Biiro D Solution

After he completed the opportunity to act as LCDA caretaker chairman, Adeojo’s brilliant performance met with God’s grace. The party, PDP, and Governor Seyi Makinde’s support gave him a ticket to contest as the democratically elected chairman of Ido local government in 2021 and, truth be told, Adeojo’s performance as LCDA caretaker chairman stood the test of time as has able to overcome the political gimmick and intrigue from the opposition.

He won the local government election with a landslide though, his election in Ido local government was re-arranged, held on Wednesday, 26th of May 2021 due to complaints over the omission of the logo of the Zenith Labour Party on the ballot papers.

Sherrif Aderemi Adeojo started his three-year term as elected local government chairman of Ido local government in Oyo state on Friday, May 28, 2021.

His swearing-in ceremony conducted by the state governor, Seyi Makinde, was held at the Executive Council Chamber in the Governor’s office, Agodi, Ibadan. And behold, after 32 months in charge of Ido local government administration, Adeojo had proven to be a servant for the masses and a servant of leaders with outstanding performances for the betterment of the people in Ido’s local government.

Like the people’s governor, in the state, Sheriff Adeojo, before the end of his 36 months in office, has satisfactorily touched all different sectors, especially education, security, transportation, and agriculture. His impact also cuts across infrastructure, rural development, commerce, agriculture, youth development, and the ecosystem.

Undoubtedly, He is a man of ideas, from day one. Adeojo appreciated (and still does) the role of agriculture and investment as the engine of economic growth. Presently, the council boss has deployed personnel, and materials into an acquired farmland for the production of food, either for home consumption or in the food processing industries.

Soon, Ido local government might be the highest producer of Cassava in Oyo state, because Adeojo is on the farm cultivating tonnes of Cassava.

Lest we forget, when the state governor sought a justification for the finance and support for local government administration, Adeojo stood out from his contemporaries who were council chairmen. His ability to face challenges and make it to his advantage has been a mystery for his critics.

Sheriff Adeojo, in his capacity and unquantifiable support of the governor, the Council chairman had done the unthinkable. He not only met the expectations of his people but displayed and replicated the good governance spirit of Governor Makinde to the people of Ido’s local government.

As facts are known to be stubborn and good works unable to be hidden, Adeojo, who is a servant-leader, has garnered recognition and been conferred with numerous awards for his hard work, which is a testament to the giant strides that have been recorded as executive local government chairman.

Sherrif Aderemi Adeojo is, no doubt, the true face of the people at the grassroots, a representative of Governor Seyi Makinde, and ambassador of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ido local government.
