Security: Ido LG Chairman Unveils Peace Initiative: Committee to Address Farmers-Herders Conflict, Mini Security Posts to Enhance Safety

The executive chairman of Ido local government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has set up a committee to see to the peaceful coexistence between the farmers and herdsmen in the local government.

 

The decision was arrived at during the August edition of the local government peace and security meeting presided over by the chairman at the local government secretariat.

The chairman said the committee, which will be inaugurated soon, was set up to look at the direct and remote causes of dysfunction among the farmers and herders with a view to averting what could snowball into a crisis thereby restoring peace and harmony back to the affected community and the inhabitants of the local government.

 

Hon. Sheriff Adeojo equally commended the security operatives in the local government for making settlements within their domains to allow peace to reign.

The chairman said the essence of the monthly Peace and Security meeting is to fashion out ways and manners to secure the lives and properties of the inhabitants of the local government.

The council chairman used the medium to call and on the non conventional security operatives to work hand in hand with the conventional security personnel to nip security challenges in the bud.

In a related development, the chairman promised to see to the setting up of a mini security post at the Elenu-shonsho and other developing areas within the jurisdictions of the Ido local government.

 

The meeting had in attendance the local government vice chairman, Barrister Olayemi Oluwashina, leader of the legislative house, Hon. Adebowale Adedeji, Head of the Local Government Administration, Mrs. Olaronke Ige, Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs. Wilcox and Director of Finance & Supplies.

 

Others are the Divisional Police officers in all the stations within the jurisdictions of the local, Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration Federal Road Safety Commission, and a host of others.
