The Executive Chairman of Ido local government area of Oyo State, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, has urged traditional rulers within the council area to be mindful of dealing with outsiders in any unlawful business activities in their various domains.
Adeojo made the plea during a special peace and security meeting involving the security operatives and traditional rulers in the local government area.
The council chair equally charged them not to get themselves involved in activities that have to do with illegal mining or related offences in their domains.
During the meeting, Adeojo, who also used the avenue to, once again, offenses with the victims of the recent explosion at Bodija on January 16th, as a result of unlawful activities perpetrated by illegal miners, narrated the displeasure of the state governor towards the devastating incident.
The Council Boss recalled how the governor frowned against the act and immediately mandated all traditional rulers through the chairman of their various local government areas.
Adeojo said the governor wants the traditional rulers to be more vigilant and ready to “say something when they see something”, to avert the recurrence of the Bodija explosion in the state.
He explained that the state government is ready to officially punish any of the traditional rulers caught in the act of illegal mining activities in his domain.
He, therefore, advised the traditional rulers not to hesitate to report any unlawful activities among their subjects to the nearest police station, and to desist from harboring illegal immigrants.
