The Chairman, of Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Dr.Aderemi Ayodele has declared that raising the standard of efficiency in the rendition of services in the Councils is very crucial to rural development, which is of utmost importance to the Commission and the current administration in Oyo State.

The Chairman made the declaration during the Commission’s Visit to some councils in the Oyo Zone of the State.

Dr Ayodele disclosed that the recent visitations embarked upon by the Commission to Councils were a determined drive to evaluate the impact of its capacity-building programs and the level of compliance with the Service rules which he said have started to yield positive results.

Speaking to the Council staff at the headquarters of Soro, Oyo South East, Oyo South West, and Afijio West LCDA, all in Oyo Zone, Dr. Ayodele expressed satisfaction with the improved workers’ attitude towards their duties and the neat working environment, urging them to keep it up. He said the Commission’s motive for embarking on the visitation was not to witch-hunt workers but to sensitize them on the need to be alive to the responsibilities from which they earn their livings.

You will quite agree with me that the service under the present administration in the State requires total dedication to duty by every worker considering the high premium placed on worker’s welfare by Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, the Chairman asserted.

Dr Ayodele further described the administration as a responsive government, noting that the recent extension of wage awards to workers for another six months, when some States are yet to implement the palliative confirms that the worker’s wellbeing is paramount to the administration.

He, therefore, urged the Council workers not to relent in their efforts to provide quality service delivery at all times.
Also addressing the workers at all the four councils visited, the Permanent Secretary, Deacon Taiwo Olafimihan Adewale implored the workers to always be guided by set rules and regulations of the service, stating that it should be a matter of duty for all staff to acquaint themselves with service regulations and disciplinary rules, so as not to run foul of them. In addition, the Permanent Secretary urged the Council workers to be mindful of their dressings, emphasizing the need to adhere to existing dress codes in the service.

The visitation team comprised; The Commission’s Chairman, Dr.Aderemi Ayodele, Full-Time Commissioner I, Alh Olobe Olalomi Amole, Part-Time Commissioner, Mrs. Christiana Nike Arewa, The Permanent Secretary, Deacon Taiwo Olafimihan Adewale, and The Ag.
