Hon. Babalola Sunkanmi (Sunky), Deputy Majority Leader and Lawmaker representing Egbeda state constituency, has appealed to youths in Egbeda Local Government to exercise restraint and demonstrate peacefully during the upcoming protest against the economic hardship in the country.
In a press statement sent to bowamedia.com, Hon. Sunkanmi acknowledged the frustrations of the youths and their fundamental right to express their displeasure with the current economic situation. However, he emphasized the importance of protecting Oyo state, saying “Oyo state is ours, and only we can protect it.”
He commended the efforts of the state government, led by Engineer Seyi Makinde, for prioritizing the welfare of the people over the years. Hon. Sunkanmi urged the youths to emulate this approach by channeling their energy into peaceful and constructive demonstrations.
The lawmaker’s appeal comes as youths in Egbeda Local Government prepare to join the nationwide protest against economic hardship on August 1. With tensions running high, Hon. Sunkanmi’s call for peace and restraint is seen as a timely intervention to prevent violence and ensure a safe and successful protest.
By urging the youths to demonstrate peacefully, Hon. Sunkanmi is helping to promote a culture of non-violent expression and responsible citizenship in Egbeda Local Government. His efforts are expected to contribute to a successful and incident-free protest.
