The Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Akin Funmilayo Williams disclosed that the government has decided to begin absolute monitoring and enforcement on illegal structures, and disused buildings within the state, noting that the enforcement of the contravention notices would continue till every building is notified.

He said the enforcement exercise would be confined to the major streets and roads stating that the enforcement team had covered some residential buildings in the GRA.

He explained that the service of contravention notices and subsequent enforcement followed after its prior assessment of failure by most landed property owners to obtain or follow the approved plan, having had several weeks of sensitization campaigns, which he said, were carried out by the State enforcement team.

He explained that the renewed enforcement would be in phases in line with the commitment of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to restore the original approved plan of housing structures.

He urged all residents in the areas to feel free to ventilate any new observations or reports about environmental nuisances that may have been missed out to the task force through the various resident associations for immediate action.
