The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Chairman of the Forum of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, has commissioned a newly renovated and remodelled Multipurpose Hall within the SDP premises, Gbagi, along Old Ife Road in Egbeda Local Government Area.

The upgraded facility, now officially renamed Tamunominini Multipurpose Hall, was commissioned by the First Lady of Oyo State, Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, whose presence added prestige and significance to the ceremony attended by government officials, community leaders, and residents.
Speaking during the commissioning, Hon. Oyedele said the renovation and transformation of the hall reflect the unwavering commitment of the Egbeda Local Government administration to infrastructural development and improved public facilities.
According to him, the project forms part of broader efforts by the council to create functional public spaces that support community engagement, social activities, and official programmes.

He noted that the newly upgraded structure stands as a symbol of progress and dedication to the people of Egbeda, while reaffirming the council’s resolve to continue implementing people-oriented initiatives capable of improving the living standards of residents and driving sustainable grassroots development.
In her remarks, the First Lady commended the council chairman for prioritizing projects that directly impact the lives of the people. She encouraged other local government chairmen across the state to emulate such initiatives that enhance community infrastructure and social welfare.

Mrs. Makinde also emphasized the importance of the marriage institution, noting that providing a dignified and conducive environment for the solemnization of marriages strengthens family values and promotes stable communities.
Highlighting another major intervention of the day, the First Lady spoke extensively on the benefits of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency programme, explaining that the initiative enables residents—particularly the elderly—to access affordable and quality healthcare services, including early diagnosis and effective management of illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, and surgery.
In a significant move to expand healthcare access at the grassroots, 250 residents of Egbeda Local Government were enrolled into the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme during the event. The enrolment will allow the beneficiaries to receive quality medical care at subsidized rates across accredited health facilities in the state.

The dual intervention—commissioning a modernized community facility and enrolling hundreds of residents into the state’s health insurance programme—underscored the local government’s commitment to not only infrastructure development but also the health and overall well-being of the people of Egbeda.
