PDP’s 2025 National Convention to Hold in Ibadan, OTOPE Applauds Makinde’s Role
As anticipation builds for the 2025 National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the decision to hold this high-stake political gathering in Ibadan, Oyo State, has been hailed as both symbolic and strategic. For many political observers and party loyalists, the choice of Ibadan is not just geographical, it is a statement of trust in the leadership that governs Oyo State.

Among those who have publicly commended the decision is Hon. Dr. Temitope Oladimeji, fondly known as OTOPE, a respected philanthropist, community leader, and founder of the OTOPE Foundation, a grassroots-based organization impacting lives across Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and Oyo State at large.
Speaking on the significance of the convention’s location, OTOPE described the development as “a testament to the capacity, capability, and competence of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.”

“The fact that PDP is bringing its 2025 National Convention to Ibadan is a direct acknowledgment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s remarkable leadership style. This is the reward for consistency, performance, and service-driven governance,” OTOPE said.
Ibadan, one of Nigeria’s most historically significant cities, will now play host to the highest decision-making body of the PDP. The convention is expected to draw party leaders, elected officials, delegates, and stakeholders from across the 36 states of the federation.

But beyond the event itself, what makes this moment powerful is the backdrop of development and peace that Oyo State currently enjoys under Governor Makinde.
“Ibadan is no longer just a historical city; under Governor Makinde administration, it has become a model for urban reform, policy innovation, and inclusive governance. What better place to host the PDP Convention than the state where good governance is not a slogan, but a daily reality?” OTOPE noted.

Since assuming office in 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde has continued to set himself apart as one of Nigeria’s most impactful and people-oriented governors. From groundbreaking projects in infrastructure and education to bold interventions in security, agriculture, and economic development, his leadership has not only earned him re-election but also national recognition.
He is regarded by many as a unifying figure within the PDP, bridging the gap between the old and new generation, and providing stability even during turbulent times within the party.
“Governor Makinde is not just a state leader, he is a national asset. He embodies what the PDP stands for: progress, inclusion, and people-first policies. That is why his state is chosen for this crucial convention. It is not a coincidence, it is a recognition of results,” OTOPE stressed.
