PDP Names Oyo State Host of 2025 National Convention, Makinde to Play Key Role
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially selected Oyo State as the host of its 2025 National Convention, set to take place in November.

The decision was unanimously adopted during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held earlier today in Abuja. This choice reflects Oyo State’s rising influence within the party and highlights the strategic importance of the South West in the PDP’s roadmap to the 2027 general elections.
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde—a prominent voice in the party’s national leadership—has been named the Chief Host of the event. His role will be central in coordinating the logistics, hospitality, and smooth hosting of thousands of party delegates, stakeholders, and observers from across Nigeria.

According to party officials, the convention will serve as a vital platform for internal strengthening, policy realignment, and unity-building as the PDP prepares to “reclaim and rescue Nigeria” in the coming political cycles.
Themed “Building Stronger, To Reclaim and Rescue Nigeria,” the 2025 convention will focus on reinforcing party structures, setting policy direction, and fostering inclusive governance ideals. It is expected to attract national attention and set the tone for the PDP’s strategic path to 2027.
