The Chairman Of Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Aderemi Ayodele Has Charged Local Government Staff In Oyo State To Be Disciplined And Diligent In The Discharge Of Their Duties.

The chairman gave the charge during a meeting with the Heads/AG. Heads of Local Government Administration at the Secretariat, Ibadan.

Hon Aderemi Ayodele expressed dismay over reported cases of indiscipline and the rate of absenteeism being witnessed across the local governments and council development areas in the state. He therefore tasks the HLGAs/Ag.HLGAs to be up and doing at ensuring punctuality and quality service delivery at their various Local governments.

The Commission boss disclosed that as part of the efforts to enforce discipline, the Commission has concluded plans to embark on unscheduled visits to local governments and whoever is found wanting must be prepared to face the consequences, by the rules and regulations of the service, the chairman warned.

In his highlights of some of the decisions of the Commission, Hon Aderemi Ayodele disclosed that the conduct of the Year 2021 promotion exercise has been decentralized to ease mobility and to reduce transport fares for the affected staff. He explained that the decision was in line with the palliative measures taken by the State Governor, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde to cushion the effect of the removal of the fuel subsidy, The Commission boss further disclosed that given the importance of the current administration attached to the training of staff, training allowance is being reviewed to meet prevailing realities. He however, sounded a note of warning that deliberate absence from seminars sponsored by the commission would no longer be acceptable. stressing that huge sums of funds are committed to organizing the seminars.

In addition, Hon Aderemi Ayodele stated that monthly/quarterly meetings would henceforth be held with the Heads/Ag. Heads of Local Government Administration and Heads of Departments respectively to have a better understanding of situations of things in the Local governments. Details of others as highlighted by the chairman are contained in a circular letter to be sent to each of the local governments and the Council Development Areas in the State.

Furthermore, the LGSC Chairman implored the HLGA/Ag HLGA to live above board, coordinate their subordinates well and stay away from anything that can undermine government objectives and goals of developing the grassroots
Similarly, other Board members which include; Alhaji Olobe Olalomi Amole, Hon Akeem Oke, Dr, John Adisa Oke, and Hon. Christiana Arewa spoke in the same vein.
Meanwhile, earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Deacon Taiwo Olafimihan Adewale who was having his maiden meeting as the new Commission’s Permanent Secretary explained that he owed his appointment to the grace of God and the benevolent of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde.

I was not the most knowledgeable nor was I the best or the most diligent but somehow I enjoyed the mercies and grace of God for which I will eternally be grateful, the new Permanent Secretary, humbly said.

Speaking further, Deacon Adewale appreciated the Commission Chairman for accepting him and described his predecessor, Mr. Akin Funmilayo, and the leadership of the Commission as a blessing to the state for setting the standard that will not only better the fortune of the Commission and the local government service but also assist in setting the pace for other States of the federation
to sustain the tempo, the Permanent Secretary further urged the Commission staff, Principal Officers, and all the local government staff, in general, to be performance-driven and should synergize to work hand in hand for greater results and quality service delivery adding that excellent service delivery is the primary objective of the public service and the hallmark of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. In his concluding remarks, Deacon Adewale appealed to all local government staff to desist from the practice of seeking undue elevation, posting, and other sundry service vices, assuring that whatever that is due for every local government Staff, regardless of his rank would be given as and when due, in line with the rules and regulations of the service.

In their separate responses, the Secretary of the Conference of HLGAs Alhaji_Akeem Olatunji, and the Chairman of the Conference of Ag.HLGAs Mr. Peter Alade commended the Commission for its far-reaching decisions and promised to abide by and be guided by it, adhering strictly to the rules and regulations of the service, the conference assured.
