...Urges developers, and individuals, to affirm Land's Genuity From Govt Before Construction

The Oyo State Government on Monday marked some properties built opposite Ilaji Farms and Resorts in Akaranran for demolition.

According to the state government, properties were built on the land
proposed for state games village.

The decision by the government to proceed with the demolition of the estates brings to an end a long wait for the realization of the projects which have been mapped out for over 25 years.

Monumental Legacy

The inspection team led by the honorable commissioner for lands, housing, and urban development, Hon. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, said most occupants and estate developers forged documents with which they lay claim to ownership of some estates, which belonged to the government from time memorial”.


“Most of the estates were wrongly built on an area set aside for the games village. This was made clear from day one that people should not embark on the illegal construction of estates in unapproved areas.

“We have made it clear to the public to desist from buying houses and landed properties without verifying the Genuity and authentication with the government to avoid future disturbances.

“We do not take delight in demolishing peoples’ houses, but we have to do our jobs toward sustaining the Ibadan Master Plan towards complementing the Sustainable Development Agenda of Omititun 2.0’’.


” More so, the government will also implore those who want to build their houses to seek genuine lands before erecting their buildings, such action will correct the issue of government demolition in the future.

Following the marking, some residents became outraged and wondered why the state government would embark on such an exercise when they had been told that the lands were approved for the developer to sell to private owners while some agreed that they later found out that the area was an acquisition lands and it is reserved for games village.
