“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective from today, May 9, 2026,” the letter read.

Explaining the reason for his exit, Olawore cited the lingering disunity and factionalisation within the party at the national level.

According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations with his family members, political associates, and supporters, adding that he believes his political future and the interests of his supporters would be better served outside the PDP.

Despite his resignation, Olawore noted that his next political move would be guided by the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde, whom he described as his political leader and a man whose leadership style he trusts.

He also expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the PDP for the opportunity to serve within the party over the years.

Olawore added that he remains grateful for the support, experience, and relationships he built during his time in the party
