Oyo Ex-commissioner for Finance, Abimbola Adekanmbi, Resigns from APC
A former Commissioner for Finance and Deputy Chief of Staff during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Mr. Abimbola Adekanmbi, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

Adekanmbi, who also sought a senatorial ticket under the party’s platform in 2023, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the Chairman of his Ward 1, Ibadan North East Local Government Area.
Copies of the letter were equally sent to the Chairmen of Ward 4 in Ona Ara Local Government and the Oyo State APC Secretariat at Oke Ado, Ibadan.
Although Adekanmbi did not disclose specific reasons for his exit, the tone of his letter reflected deep introspection and a sense of closure to what he described as a “significant chapter” of his political journey.

“I hereby formally tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the letter began.
“This marks the close of a significant chapter in my political journey — one that began from the very inception of the Party. Through seasons of growth and challenge, I have remained steadfast in my commitment and I am grateful for the honour to contribute, in my own way, to the service and progress of our dear Oyo State.”
The former commissioner expressed appreciation to his colleagues and party members for their years of shared service and camaraderie, describing them as “passionate men and women dedicated to the growth of the party and the state.”

He added:
“Together, we shared moments of purpose, built enduring bonds, and shaped collective memories that I will always hold dear.”

While Adekanmbi’s next political move remains uncertain, his resignation has sparked mild speculation across Oyo’s political circles, especially given his close ties to the late Ajimobi’s political structure.
