Oyelese, Oyo Lawmakers Hail Hon Sanda, Commission Renovated Egbeda Legislative Chamber

One of the founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Wole Oyelese and the lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency, Hon Akintunde Olajide Emmanuel (AKT), Hon Olusola Owolabi representing Ibadan Northeast Constituency 2 and Alajia of Ajia land, on Thursday showered encomium on the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon Sikiru Sanda Oyedele.

This was as Hon Akintunde who is the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters commissioned the newly renovated Legislative building used by councilors for their activities.

Delivering his speech at the commissioning at the council’s Secretariat on Thursday, Oyo ALGON Chairman, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele stated that his administration has repositioned the legislative building to aid the lawmaker in the discharge of the duties effectively.

Monumental Legacy

He said, “The renovated legislative building equipped with modern facilities will enhance efficiency and effectiveness of our councilors.

“As a former lawmaker in the 6th Oyo Assembly , I understand the core values of the legislative arm and it’s expected that we as the executive work hand in hand for a smooth governing affairs, which birthed the event of today.

While commissioning the legislative chamber, the lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency and the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Akintunde Olajide (AKT), said he wasn’t surprised at the efforts invested into the realization of the legislative building stating that the chairman has yet again placed Egbeda local government on the map among its peers.

“A project like this marking the end of a dispensation is commendable and we are glad it’s coming from this administration, led by the ALGON chairman himself, it only reflects that the chairman understands the importance of the legislative arm, because they can only make bye laws when they are in a serene environment like this and I will implore other local governments in the state to emulate this great feat from the Egbeda”.


Also speaking at the event a former Minister and former Executive Chairman of Egbeda local government, Elder Wole Oyelese attributed the success of Hon Sanda’s administration to his sterling leadership qualities and cordial relationship between executive and legislative arm.

He described Hon. Sanda as a leader who listens and takes advice from elders.

The outgoing Egbeda Legislative Council members held their final plenary which signalled the end of their tenure at the renovated building.

The plenary was presided over by House Leader, Hon Ibrahim Oladebo who was elected in the April local government elections as Vice-Chairman to Hon Sikiru Sanda Oyedele.

The legislative council lauded and appreciated Hon Sanda for his support and admonished the incoming lawmakers to cooperate with him in his resolve to move the local government forward.
