The group said its decision followed a careful assessment of the major contenders for the Oyo governorship, stressing that it found Alli to be the most worthy candidate based on his experience, political maturity, temperament, relationships and record of public service.

The declaration was made on Thursday in Ibadan during a gathering of members and supporters of the organisation.

Speaking at the event, the Coordinator-General of the group, Adekanmbi Siyanbade, said the endorsement was not politically motivated, noting that the organisation is a non-partisan group committed to encouraging citizens to participate actively in determining who governs them.

According to Siyanbade, Oyo State needs a leader capable of balancing physical infrastructure with what he described as “policy infrastructure” capable of positioning the state to benefit from developments at the federal level and across the South-West.

He described Senator Alli as calm, emotionally stable, consistent and politically mature, adding that his years of public service and ability to maintain relationships across political divides make him suitable for the state’s top job.

The group also cited Alli’s long-standing political relationship with elder statesman, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, as evidence of his patience, loyalty and political maturity.

Siyanbade said the group had equally assessed the leadership qualities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed support for his re-election, describing the Renewed Hope agenda and recent policy initiatives as important to Nigeria’s long-term development.

The organisation consequently unveiled Organic Nigerians for Asiwaju 2027 (#ON4BAT27) and Organic Nigerians for BSA27 (#ON4BSA27) as support platforms for Tinubu and Alli respectively.

The group said it would commence grassroots mobilisation across Oyo State, with a target of mobilising over 200,000 votes for its preferred candidates.

It maintained that its endorsement was precedent-based and driven by merit, not party sentiments, declaring: “Having weighed the candidates, we found Senator Sharafadeen Alli to be the most worthy for the Oyo State governorship.”
