‘My Political Future Is In God’s Hands’- Makinde Speaks On Defecting To APC

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reacted to the insinuation doing the round that he would defect to the opposition party, All Progressives Congress APC.

He noted that he did not contemplate defecting to the opposition party as a PDP Governor, who has spent almost four years in the office, saying that he is surprised by the insinuation.

Makinde, who made the declaration in an interview with TVC on Sunday, following his second-term victory, added that his political future is in God’s hands.

The governor, who was reelected to continue his second term, also pledged to support and work in alliance with the APC President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said: “Well, I spent nearly four years as a PDP governor in Oyo State, working with APC led-FG and I did not decamp then. So, I really don’t know what is driving that assertion, but my political future is in God’s hands. Just like this election, I said to people that cared to listen, that I came into this government without a god-father and because I have God the father with the support of the people, we will prevail. And that was exactly what happened on Saturday

“I will, as the governor of Oyo State, work with the President-elect. We will continue to work towards ensuring that Nigeria is united. We will make sure Nigeria is on the path of inclusivity. We will work with the passion to create value in our country Nigeria.”

He added that the G-5 group will continue to obey its laid down constitution and work towards achieving unity, justice and inclusiveness.

Makinde is the last of the PDP G5 while his contemplating including Governor’s Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Samuel Ortom of Benue lost their Senatorial Election and Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who didn’t contest for any elective posts.
