The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, at its state congress held yesterday in Ibadan, successfully elected a new set of executives to steer the party’s affairs towards sustained dominance in the state and beyond 2027. Among those elected is Hon. Lekan Bello from Egbeda Local Government, who now serves as the State Youth Leader.
Bello is a seasoned youth mobilizer with a strong background in student activism, political organization, and entrepreneurship. He holds an HND in Accounting from Osun State Polytechnic, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Joseph Ayo Babalola University — where he is also pursuing a Master’s degree — and is a Chartered Project Manager certified by the Global Institute of Project Management.
His leadership journey began in the student movement as a former member of NANS, Chairman of the Pathfinder Movement, and Chairman of the All Activists’ Organization in Iree campus. He later rose to become Oyo Central Senatorial Youth Leader and also served on the Governing Board of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igbo Ora.
Beyond politics, Bello is an entrepreneur and Director at Balak System and Structure Ltd, a telecoms service partner for Airtel, and also a Director at Dutsabel Group of Companies, with investments in oil and gas, cement distribution, and agro-allied ventures.
With his emergence alongside other newly elected state executives, stakeholders believe Hon. Lekan Bello will bring vibrancy, inclusiveness, and innovative leadership to the youth wing of Oyo PDP, consolidating the gains recorded under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership.
