Makinde’s 2026 Budget Is a Forward-Thinking Plan for Growth — Egbeda Chairman Sanda Sikiru
The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru, has lauded Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for unveiling the 2026 Budget of Economic Expansion valued at ₦891.9 billion, describing the proposal as a forward-thinking plan capable of repositioning the state for accelerated growth.
Hon. Sanda, speaking to newsmen, said the budget reflects Governor Makinde’s “clear-headed leadership and unshakable commitment to building a resilient, modern and opportunity-driven Oyo State.” He noted that while many states are still adjusting to economic pressures nationwide, the governor has continued to present policies rooted in stability, innovation, and long-term impact.
He explained that the 2026 budget communicates a deliberate strategy to strengthen critical areas of development, particularly infrastructure, education, healthcare delivery, agribusiness, security improvement and youth-focused interventions. According to him, these priorities speak directly to the yearnings of citizens and demonstrate a government that listens and responds with purpose.
The Egbeda chairman noted that the local governments in the state has consistently benefited from the governor’s inclusive governance style, adding that the new budget would further open avenues for job creation, boost local enterprise, and promote equitable distribution of development across all communities.
Sanda Sikiru described the budget as “another bold step from a governor who understands both the present challenges and the future demands of Oyo State,” praising Makinde for presenting what he called a strategic, people-shaped and development-driven financial roadmap.
Hon. Sanda added that the 2026 budget marks a new phase in the state’s developmental journey, noting that its strategic focus will empower local governments to implement community-driven projects more effectively. He expressed confidence that the budget will translate into visible improvements across Egbeda and beyond, reinforcing Governor Makinde’s legacy of practical leadership and measurable results.
