Makinde’s ₦891.9bn Budget Bold, People-Centric — Akintayo

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for presenting the 2026 Budget of Economic Expansion estimated at ₦891.9 billion, describing it as a strategic blueprint that reflects the governor’s unwavering commitment to the state’s prosperity.

Akintayo, in a statement on Monday, said the budget demonstrates exceptional political will at a time when many states are grappling with economic uncertainty and governance challenges. He noted that Governor Makinde has once again proven himself as one of Nigeria’s most strategic, people-oriented, and economically grounded leaders.

According to him, the 2026 budget goes beyond figures and projections, serving as a political statement that reinforces Makinde’s resolve to drive sustained growth, bold reforms, and deliberate positioning of Oyo State as a model for progressive governance.

The council chairman highlighted key sectors prioritised in the budget—such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agribusiness, security, and youth empowerment—stating that the allocations mirror the aspirations of residents and the state’s long-term development agenda.

Akintayo added that the people of Ibadan North East have consistently benefited from the governor’s inclusive policies and expressed confidence that the new budget will expand economic opportunities, stimulate local development, and deliver more direct dividends of democracy at the grassroots.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Makinde’s political vision, describing the budget as “further evidence that the governor is not just governing, but setting a leadership benchmark for others to follow.”
