Our attention has been drawn to a publication currently circulating on social media concerning the forthcoming Egbeda Local Government Chairmanship election and making reference to our highly respected leader, Otunba Seye Famojuro.
Ordinarily, we would not have dignified such an anonymous publication with a response. However, in view of the public interest it has generated and, more importantly, because it mentioned our revered leader, it has become necessary to set the record straight.
We wish to state categorically that neither Hon. Lekan Bello nor any member of his campaign or support structure authorized, sponsored, or had prior knowledge of the said publication. We completely dissociate ourselves from its contents and the views expressed therein.
The group described as “Concerned Stakeholders, Youth, Women and APM Members, Egbeda Local Government” is unknown to us, and we have no affiliation whatsoever with those behind the publication.
Furthermore, the social media post was traced to a phone number identified on Truecaller as Adeosun Sodiq. For the avoidance of doubt, I do not know the individual, have never had any contact with him, and I was neither consulted nor informed before the publication was made.
I wish to state unequivocally that I hold Otunba Seye Famojuro in the highest esteem. He is one of our most respected leaders in Oyo State, and I have immense respect and admiration for him. At no time would I authorize or support any publication intended to disparage, undermine, or disrespect his person or his leadership. Such actions are completely inconsistent with my values and the principles upon which we have conducted our political engagement.
I therefore appeal to the general public, our party faithful, and especially our esteemed leader, Otunba Seye Famojuro, to disregard the publication in its entirety. It does not represent my views, the position of Hon. Lekan Bello, or that of our supporters.
Hon. Lekan Bello remains committed to pursuing his aspiration with humility, decency, respect for party leadership, and unwavering loyalty to the ideals of our great party. We believe in constructive engagement, internal democracy, and peaceful political participation.
We urge everyone to disregard the publication and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of creating unnecessary tension or misunderstanding among our leaders and party members.
