JUST IN: Oyo High Court Discontinue Alaafin Stool Hearing •Fix Date For Fresh Hearing

The High Court sitting in Oyo township, on Thursday, discontinued a suit filed by five kingmakers against the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, the state Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Matters, and the attorney general, over the vacant stool of Alaafin of Oyo.

Heritage Echo News had reported that the Kingmakers in Oyo town, popularly known as Oyo Mesi, dragged the governor and two others to Court to abort the process for the selection/appointment of the candidate for filling the vacant stool of Alaafin of Oyo candidate by Kingmakers.

Justice Ladiran Akintola, having listened to both the Counsels of the Claimants and defendants, discontinued suit no; HOY/38/2023, and received a new suit no HOY/14/2023, which he said a new date would be communicated to both parties.

It would be recalled that the stool became vacant after the demise of the late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemo III, who died in April 2022 and reigned for 52year on the stool
