Just In: Oyo East Local Government Chairman Suspended Over Viral Video Controversy
The Oyo State House of Assembly has suspended Olusola Oluokun, Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, due to a viral video that sparked widespread controversy.
The suspension came after a Matter of Urgent Public Importance was presented to the House, titled “Urgent Call For Full Investigation into the indecent attitude of the Chairman, Oyo East Local Government, Mr. Olusola Oluokun in a Viral video online.”
The video in question showed Oluokun eating half-naked and praising a political stalwart who helped him become chairman. Additionally, he allegedly rained curses on those perceived as enemies of his benefactor.
The House deemed Oluokun’s actions unbecoming of an elected Local Government Chairman and consequently set up a committee to investigate the matter. In the interim, the Vice Chairman will assume the role of Acting Chairman.
The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, strongly condemned Oluokun’s behavior, emphasizing that the House would not tolerate such indecent conduct. He noted that the swift action taken demonstrates the House’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and dignity of public office.
