Benedict Akika, a close associate of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has been released by his kidnappers. Akika was abducted from his Ibadan home six days ago by gunmen who stormed his Olorunda residence.

Sources close to the matter confirmed his release on Wednesday night, although it remains unclear whether a ransom was paid. In a surprising turn of events, Akika was found wandering around a lowly populated area in Akinyele Local Government of Oyo State before being brought home.

Following his release, Akika was taken to a medical facility for a thorough examination. The news of his release comes after his loyalists organized interdenominational prayers for his safe return.

Akika, fondly known as “Bene,” has used his influence to facilitate development projects in the Akobo-Olorunda area of Lagelu local government, earning him recognition and respect from traditional rulers, who conferred on him the title of Agbaakin of Olorunda.

His abduction and subsequent release have sparked relief and gratitude among his supporters and the community.”
