Just In: Bus Driver Disappears Upon Bus Collision On Ibadan – Iseyin Road
Thirty-two passengers of two commercial Mazda buses escaped death10 at 10 pm on Saturday as one of the buses coming from Ibadan collided with a stationary bus at kilometer 43, Moniya-Iseyin road.
This online newspaper gathered from one of the passengers who cheated death, Lukmon Alabi, an indigene of Iseyin, that the elderly driver of the 18-passenger bus from Ibadan heading towards Iseyin was having a sight issue.
Alabi informed our correspondent that the bus left Ojoo Park around 8 pm and all the passengers immediately realized that the driver could not drive in the night, because he was missing his lane from the beginning of the journey.
He added that when the bus got to a giant realtor estate at kilometer 43, the bus collided with a faulty stationary bus with full passengers, heading towards Saki, and the two buses caught fire.
”We had been shouting and praying from Ojoo Park when we began our journey that the driver could not drive in the night, he was just leaving his lane and driving in the middle of the road.
”We got to that point and he rammed into another bus that was faulty parked by the road beside the new realtor site at kilometer 43 and our bus and the other bus caught fire. We thank God that no one died, only one or two passengers got injured.”
The elderly driver was however said to have vanished immediately after the collision happened and was not found till all the passengers got other vehicles to convey them to Iseyin.
Our source said the disappearance of the driver could be attributed to the much-totted African power called ‘Egbe’ by the Yorubas.
”I believe the man used ‘Egbe’ because he vanished upon the collision and we did not see him despite a frantic search for him till we left the scene some minutes after ten in the night,” Lukmon pointed out with astonishment.
