The Executive Chairman of the Ido local government area of Oyo State, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, on Thursday, empowered 10 women with one deep freezer each.
The beneficiaries, who included traders, and widows, were selected across all the wards in the Council area.
Delivering his speech during the donation, Adeojo implored the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items presented to them as there are lots of people who could not get such an opportunity.
“I want to believe that our beneficiaries are aware that a lot of people would love to be a beneficiary today but could not. It is your turn today and theirs will come tomorrow because no stone will be left untouched to drive socio-economic empowerment opportunities for our people.
“I am opportune to access these materials and I have brought them home for our people to reiterate my commitment to my people and my promises to enhance the socio-economic situation within our communities,” he stated.
He, however, urged the beneficiaries not to sell the freezers presented to them but to ensure they use them to get better value from running businesses tied to the gifts in terms of source of revenue.
The elated beneficiaries, in their joint remarks, appreciated the chairman for the empowerment, saying it would go a long way in helping their businesses.
