Speaking on the political program *Gbanba Oselu* on Success FM 105.3, the lawmaker-elect stressed that while lawmaking remains his primary responsibility, his representation will also bring tangible development to the grassroots.

“Yes, the primary objective of a lawmaker is to make laws, but there must also be direct impact,” he said. “Our people deserve basic projects such as boreholes, electricity, improved security, and other essential amenities that touch lives directly.”

Hon. Oyekunle further explained that during the course of the electioneering campaign, wide consultations were carried out across Ibadan North, and proper documentation of the people’s needs was undertaken. According to him, this would serve as a guide to ensure accountability, transparency, and a clear focus on priorities that reflect the most pressing needs of his constituents.

“Our engagements were not just about canvassing votes. We listened, we documented, and we identified what matters most to our people. That is why my approach will be issue-based, focusing on priority areas like water, power, security, and education. Accountability will remain a core principle of my representation,” he assured.

He further emphasized the importance of prioritizing education in Ibadan North, which is home to major institutions such as the University of Ibadan, The Polytechnic Ibadan (now Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic), and the University College Hospital (UCH).

According to him, giving education a central focus means facilitating the renovation of dilapidated school structures, providing bursaries and scholarships, and ensuring continuous supply of learning materials.

Monumental Legacy

“Education is the backbone of our society. By supporting our schools with infrastructure, bursaries, and materials, we are building a stronger future for Ibadan North and Oyo State at large,” he noted.

On youth empowerment, Hon. Oyekunle described young people as the most critical element in societal growth, stressing that his agenda would include programs for reorientation and capacity-building.

“The development of a state starts with its youths,” he said. “We must reorient, empower, and support our young people to become productive citizens who will drive the future.”

He also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as “unprecedented developments” across Oyo State, adding that he would complement the Governor’s efforts through effective representation at the National Assembly.

“Governor Makinde has set a standard of people-centered governance. As a lawmaker, I will only continue to support and implement the many efforts of the executive for the good of our people,” Hon. Oyekunle assured.
